Training Camp Bulletin #2 – some thoughts on food to prepare December 24, 2006

Alex Mamo, Auckland Grammar Rowing, who will be at our camp, has made a list of the food types that have been successful at past camps.

When she gets back from her brief holiday up North , Emma will be organizing the individual Waitemata rower food responsibilities but for now here is Alex’ helpful list:

Dinner
Macaroni Cheese
Salmon & Asparagus Bake
Potato Salad
Japanese Style Rice with Chicken
Tuna Rice Loaf
Meat Loaf
Mince Lasagna
Chicken Lasagna
Meat balls with rice
Hamburger meat patties
Potato Bake
Tortilla wraps with mince, avocado salsa and salad
chicken, broccoli and pasta bake
Spaghetti Bolognese
Chicken Ravioli with pesto
Kumara and Pineapple Curried Fish Pie  
Mexican Tuna Loaf
Corn on the cob (only 2 minutes in the microwave with skin on)
Risotto
Home made Pizza
Potato top pie made with mince and baked beans
Chicken Fried Rice
Sausages and potato mash with onion
Chicken Pie

Omelette
Baked Stuffed potatoes (only 2-3 minutes in the microwave. can stuff with tuna, cheese, brocolli etc)
Baked beans/spaghetti on toast

Corn Fritters
Potato Cakes

toasted sandwiches
Potato quiche
Bagels/bread/rolls/pita bread – aim for wholemeal (only use white bread just before/during or straight after training)

Training starts again on Wednesday, 3rd January from 0700.

January 2007 Training Camp Bulletin #1 December 19, 2006

Our January training camp will be held on Lake Maraetai, Mangakino from 11 – 19.
We travel to Rotorua, for the Blue Lakes Regatta weekend on Friday 19 in the afternoon.
Accommodation, food, transport costs etc. will total approximately $300.
Watch out for further updates in the next two weeks.

WOpen 2X 1st: Sarah/ Emma
Had a large lead on the field from half way. This is the first time Sarah has stroked a boat in a race!

WOpen 1X 1st: Emma
struggled in the side wind and slowly established a good lead.
6th: Sarah
an OK effort although behind Inter-Provincial colleagues , Maria Larcombe and Abbey Wilson.

The Club 4+ crew (Brogan, Jordyn, Danielle, Amy – Erin) had an ordinary race to finish 5th a fair way behind the winners.

The novice crew were last in their two races.

Morgan was slow in his U17 1X.

Lead all the way in the first heat.

MClub1X Morgan
tailed off quite quickly

WU192X Danielle, Brogan
4th of four in their heat; slowly drifted back from the leading crews = unfit

WOpen1X 1st Emma
One other entry who was way behind. Emma rated 25-26 spm.

WU174X+ Brogan, Amy, Rebecca, Jessica
Combination not good

WClub2X 1st Emma, Sarah
Dominant in this class – 28 spm.

WClub4X 1st Sarah, Emma, Danielle, Brogan
Good to see a more cohesive effort than they achieved at the North Shore regatta last Saturday.

WU174+ Jordyn, Amy, Rebecca, Jessica
Uncoordinated

WAITEMATA CREWS:

WU174X+ Brogan, Rebecca, Jordyn, Jessica (Danielle). They finished in last place.

WOpen1X FIRST Emma – easily

WOpen4X Third Sarah, Emma, Danielle, Brogan

WClub1X FIRST Sarah (2nd heat )

WU182X Brogan, Danielle. Well off the pace.

WOpen2X FIRST Emma, Sarah

WU174+ Third Brogan, Jordyn, Rebecca, Jessica (Danielle). Nearly competitive in second heat.

WClub2X FIRST Emma, Sarah (Easily dominated the second heat).

MClub2X Morgan struggled and tailed off.
